Derek Zheng

Derek Zheng is an undergraduate at Harvard College studying Computer Science with a secondary in Energy & Environment. He is passionate about the intersection of business, sustainability and technology, and is especially excited about applications of technology that advance the greater good. He currently researches value chain integration and specialization in the context of the energy transition under Harvard Kennedy School Senior Fellow Nicola De Blasio.

Derek also works on engineering and managing high impact software products in the physical commodities, housing inequality, e-commerce and sustainable technology spaces. Derek is a AI Research Fellow at the R42 Institute, where he examines the application of AI and machine learning methods to analyze water industry data. He is also an Investment Analyst Intern at ClearVision Ventures, where he researches promising investment opportunities and market trends in the AI and Sustainability sphere.

At Harvard, Derek is an Associate at Harvard University Consulting on Business and the Environment, a Strategy Lead at Harvard Tech for Social Good, and is also involved as a board member of MakeHarvard and Harvard Effective Altruism.
